The two days nuclear summit of 12-13 April in Washington ended without any agreement on further sanctions towards a seeking Nuclear Iran. China was reluctant over that option and asked for more dialogue with Iran.

The debate was on the air today morning on a French radio station, France Inter, with two researchers invited to comment the credibility of sanctionning Iran and the impact of a Nuclear Iran on the proliferation. Will a Nuclear Iran weaken the NPT (Non Proliferation Treaty) or not ? And how can Western countries gain credibility asking others countries not to get something they have got ? Here are the two guests and the questions :

Thérèse Delpech, the Head of Strategic Affairs of the French Atomic Energy Authority (CEA) - and Researcher.

Pascal Boniface, the Head of the French International and strategic relations Institute (IRIS)

First of all, is Iran another Iraq ? Is the US mastering the two accusations of potential mass destructions weapons the same way ?

Is Iran’s Power contestation a consequence of the West opposing a Nuclear Iran ?

Pakistan, India and Israël didn’t signed the NPT (Non Proliferation Treaty). Iran signed it. So who is on the wrong side of the non proliferation ?

Can Iran get out of the NPT ?

Why if Iran becomes a nuclear state eventually ?

What about Egypt and Syria or Brazil ?

The next nuclear security summit will take place in Seoul in 2010.
